News from January Committee meeting.

Apologies for lack of posts from the Committee over the last couple of months. Ill health has prevented this. Hopefully these posts will be monthly from now on. Stocking news – 250lb of roach were introduced to Bradley, Linhay and Island ponds. Many of these were quality fish in the 8oz to 1lb bracket. We are in the process of purchasing 400lb of Carp for Wheel pond in the 1 to 1and a quarter pound bracket. The larger Carp will be netted and moved on to other ponds on the Rackerhayes complex when the new stock is secured. The club

Carp feeding on Dores

Carp are feeding on Dores. Brothers Jason and Elliot Fay report five fish to 25lb 1oz. The mild weather seems to be getting the fish ina feeding mood.


20lb+ Carp to end 2011

Charlie Rorke finished the year on a high with 4 carp from Dores. One was the ‘Big ghostie’ at 26 8 and the other ‘The immaculate’ at 25 3. Pictures will be added to the gallery soon.  


Christmas Update

The biggest event on Newton Abbot Fishing Association’s match calender, the Annual Christmas Open was held earlier this month. The match was fished on Key, Bradley and Wapperwell, and 31 of the 37 competitors weighed in. Winner was Alan Davies on Peg 14 at Wapperwell with skimmers, carp and roach on pole fished caster for 7k 260g, winning £150 and a large hamper for his efforts. Second was Mark Cousins, next to the winner on Peg 15, with a similar catch, also on the pole for 5k 520g, winning £120 and a hamper. Just 20grams behind in third place was

License Renewals

A quick reminder that it is time to renew those licenses again.Members who have already sent their fee and license in please be aware we are still awiting the delivery of the 2012 Rule book – promised for mid – December- and once we take delivery licenses will be sent out. Thankyou for your patience.


Work on Wheel

Work will commence on the platforms and pathway around Wheel on November 28th so a substantial part of the pond will be out of use for some time, Apologies for any inconvenience caused but the Environment Agency are funding £17 000 worth of improvements.
